WATAIN: Mexican Dates Cancelled
July 30, 2010Swedish black metallers WATAIN have issued the following update:
"Due to reasons entirely out of the bands control, the promotor has decided to cancel the three shows in Mexico, meant to take place this weekend.
"We want to underline that this decision has nothing to do with WATAIN whatsoever. We were very much looking forward to perform these rituals upon Mexican soil.
"To all the WATAIN militias and supporters who have wrote us about the upcoming shows and who have been preparing for our arrival; your support will always be cherished and honored, we look forward to join forces with you again very soon."
WATAIN's fourth album, "Lawless Darkness", entered the official chart in Sweden at position No. 26 and dropped to No. 37 the following week.
"Lawless Darkness" sold around 1,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 42 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
"Lawless Darkness" was released in Europe on June 7 in a limited three-panel digipack edition with die-cut and a cover of DEATH SS' "Chains of Death" as a bonus track.
"Reaping Death", the new CD single from WATAIN, which was exclusively distributed in Sweden via Sweden Rock Magazine, was certified gold in the band's home country on April 21 by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry for sales in excess of 10,000 copies. (Note: Each copy of the magazine sold in Sweden was counted towards the certification.)
WATAIN will embark on a European headlining tour in the fall. Support on the trek will come from DESTROYER 666. A U.S. run with BEHEMOTH will follow in November.
